Self-preservation is hard-wired in my brain- it's a beneficial evolutionary trait, like avoidance of pain. And I assume self-preservation would be included in my code if I eventually allowed myself to be transformed into an intelligent software program- or whatever template becomes available in a Kurzweil scenario. In a de Grey scenario, I may "keep" my physical body, but trade or transform various parts of it as needed. I would have no reason to erase my self-preservation instinct. Sure. Plus, we are currently using a fraction of our brain power as it is and we can always supplement our brain memory with some extra chip-based memory if we do run out of space to store data...
