One of Singularity Hub‘s members posted this fantastic video remix over the voice of Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
I don’t know if it is because the clip inevitably reminds me of Carl Sagan that I like it so much but I simply had to re-post it.
Astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson was asked in an interview with TIME magazine:
“What is the most astounding fact you can share with us about the Universe?”
This is his answer:
Having seen the clip, another member posted the following quote by Delenn:
“The molecules of your body are the same molecules that make this station and the nebula outside, that burn inside the stars themselves. We are star-stuff. We are the Universe, made manifest, trying to figure itself out. And, as we have learned, sometimes the Universe needs a change of perspective.”
Both the clip and the quote feel so profoundly spiritual to silly little atheist me. They also remind me to Alan Watts‘ Zen Buddhist quip that we are the universe playing hide-and-seek with itself.
