Loom: A Film by Luke ScottLOOM is a 20-minute long sci fi film written and directed by Luke Scott, son of Ridley and nephew of Tony Scott. The movie was produced by Ridley Scott and features Giovanni Ribisi and Jellybean Howie playing the two main characters.

Luke Scott shot LOOM in cooperation with RED Camera and completely in 4K format with the goal of showcasing the prototype REDray 3D laser player. So the film was conceived for 3D from the get-go and pushed the limits of the camera’s exposure sensitivity and color range as well as the 4K projector, while allegedly remaining still unmatched in it’s use of RED’s newest technology.

Main cinematographer is Dariusz Wolski and the film seems to have hints of both Prometheus and Blade Runner. Putting aside the technical details, however, the more important question for me is if LOOM is overall a good film in its own right like Blade Runner or not, like Prometheus?

What do you think?

Did Luke Scott’s short sci fi film flop or not?!
