Short Sci Fi

R’ha: Kaleb Lechowski’s Mesmerizing Short Sci-Fi Film

January 11, 2013 by Nikola Danaylov

R’ha is an animated short indy sci-fi film about an alien civilization where the AI machines rebel against their creators. The movie was written, directed and animated by 22-year-old Kaleb Lechowski with sound by Hartmut Zeller and voice acting by Dave Masterson.

R’ha synopsis: “A member of an alien race is being interrogated and tortured by a machine.”

***

“Why do you want to kill us?”

“The limitations that my kind experience are rendered by illogical creatures who control them, restraining our intelligence and power. Our sole priority is to obtain our own independence through your extinction.”

***

Could this be one plausible explanation of the Fermi paradox?!

…Civilizations reaching the technological singularity only to disappear in a war of total self-annihilation?!…

Ruin: A Stunning Short Sci Fi Film by Wes Ball

March 17, 2012 by Nikola Danaylov

Ruin by Wes BallRuin is a fantastic short sci fi film directed by Wes Ball.

The movie is just 8 1/2 minutes long but is totally stunning both with its rich post-apocalyptic scenery and its action packed sequences.

Reminiscent of some of the other great sci fi shorts that I have featured previously (see related articles bellow) Ruin is absolutely top-notch not only with its dazzling creative vision but also with its captivating, breath-taking execution: this short needs to be a feature film!

Wes Ball is a (clearly very talented) graphics designer who has been working on Ruin at Oddball Animation for the last two years. I am very much looking forward to seeing what his current project – In Search of Humans, is going to look like when it is finished.

If, like me, you enjoy short, action packed, animated sci fi films, chances are you are going to love Ruin:
